Director/Chaplain

Director/Chaplain PhotoAssigned to St. Albert in July 2004, Fr. Randy Cuevas, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, with family roots on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, grew up in Baton Rouge and has worked at parishes and Catholic schools from 1983 - 2004 in Baton Rouge, New Roads, Albany, Springfield, Hammond, and Donaldsonville. He’s been a chaplain in the U. S. Air Force Reserves, from which he retired in 2009 with the rank of Colonel after 30 years of service. He is a decorated veteran and was embedded in combat zones for two deployments with the U.S. Army and Marines in Afghanistan between 2004 and 2006. He has been actively involved in the National Catholic Committee on Scouting and the Knights of Columbus for the past 19 years. A former National Chaplain of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting, he is an NCCS annual national convention planner and COR of the BSA Venturing unit chartered at St. Albert. He is also co-chaplain at St. Thomas Aquinas Diocesan Regional Catholic High School in Hammond, is Formation Director of the Permanent Diaconate Program of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, and is Dean of the Northeast Deanery of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, including Tangipahoa and St. Helena civil parishes, and the eastern half of Livingston Civil Parish. He serves on the Baton Rouge Diocesan Building Review Board. At St. Albert, he is responsible for serving the needs of the Catholic students at SLU and directing the operation and personnel of the Student Center and its student services and programs. Assistant Director/Campus Minister

Assistant Director/Campus Minister PhotoSr. Renée Daigle, MSC is from Houma, Louisiana, and is a member of and vocation director for the religious community of the Marianites of Holy Cross. A member of the St. Albert staff since January 2008, She is responsible for coordinating all the student services, programs, and ministries at the student center, and is the staff liaison with Southeastern’s Catholic Student Association. Physical Plant Manager

Physical Plant Manager PhotoOur physical plant manager is Mr. John R. “Juba” Johnson, Jr. An alumnus of Southeastern Louisiana University, he is originally from New Roads and has been on the St. Albert Staff since 1997, having served as Lay Campus Minister until 2008. He is responsible for the management for all of St. Albert’s facilities. He is also Director of St. Albert’s liturgical music ministry and serves as cantor at the 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Sunday Masses. He is a certified procurator/advocate for the Tribunal of the Diocese of Baton Rouge. He coordinates the RENEW groups and small faith communities of St. Albert’s support community members, liturgy preparation ministry, wedding rehearsals, and funeral liturgies. His office is on the 2nd floor of the Student Center. Campus Minister

Campus Minister PhotoMrs. Jacqui Courtney joins the St. Albert staff in January 2009 as lay campus minister. Jacqui comes to St. Albert from St. Margaret Parish, Albany, LA, where she served as full time Director of Religious Education, Youth Sacramental Preparation Programs, and Youth Ministry. She is a diocesan-certified catechist. She assists with coordination of all the student services, programs, and ministries at the student center, as well as with direction of Southeastern’s Catholic Student Association. She assists with coordinating retreats and meetings for the students here at the Center and provides religious education and spiritual and religious formation opportunities for students and support community members. Her office is at the east end of the 1st floor of the student center building (accessed at the foot of the east stairwell, just inside the east entrance)

Secretary

Secretary PhotoMrs. Cindy Scardina is from Baton Rouge, a resident of Hammond, and assists with the administrative, financial, bookkeeping, and business affairs of the Student Center, and is Fr. Randy’s secretary. A member of the St Albert Staff since 2007, she schedules weekday and Sunday Mass Intentions and reserves use/rental of the Student Center meeting rooms and auditorium, and schedules weekday appointments for Fr. Liturgical Musicians

Mrs. Dera Beckemeyer is our pianist/organist at the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass and Mr. Joseph Dick is our pianist/organist at the 6:00 p.m. Sunday Mass.
